Meet Ben. Ben is Paul's hard drive that currently possess our book files. In 4-6 weeks, Ben will turn into a 224- page softcover book called, "Wild in Arizona: Photographing Arizona's Wildflowers." The shipping clerk had to pry him from my hands so we could ship him to Minnesota for printing. Letting go was tough...

Or as we  say, “WIA are done!”

(just in case, WIA is the acronym for Wild in Arizona,  pronounced “We-a”…we-a are done, get it?  Cool!)

Paul and I finished the book today!  After 17 months of extensive planning, photographing, writing, editing, editing, editing, editing, editing, editing, editing, and editing, we came to a point in the process where we both looked at each other and said, “There’s nothing left to change.  The book is exactly the way we want it. WIA are done!”

This afternoon, the 225 book files were shipped to our printer in Minnesota, where they will be transformed into a real soft cover book in 4-6 weeks if all goes according to plan.

It’s hard for us to comprehend that tomorrow morning we’ll wake up and NOT have any work to do on “the book.”   Last week, as Paul and I chatted about what life might be like without having this massive project on our plate, he brought up one of his favorite quotes on his iTouch:

“Writing a book is an adventure.  To begin with, it is a toy and an amusement; then it becomes a mistress, then it becomes a master, and then a tyrant.  The last phase is that just as you are about to be reconciled to your servitude, you kill the monster, and fling him out to the public.”  ~ Winston Churchill

We couldn’t agree more with Mr. Churchill’s assessment!  Now that we’ve killed the proverbial monster, we couldn’t be more excited to be one step closer to sharing our first book with you all!   Thank you so very much for all of your support in helping us get this far!

More to come after we celebrate (and recover) from this wonderful milestone…
